(2026/05/07) Lab Safety Talk Best Practices Competition
ObsCAL was selected as an award recipient in the KAIST Lab Safety Talk Best Practices Competition (Lab Safety Talk 우수사례 공모전 장려상).

(2026/05/06) 2026 Asia-Pacific Regional IAU Meeting (Hong Kong)
Junhan and Minjae attended the 2026 Asia-Pacific Regional IAU Meeting (APRIM).
Minjae presented a poster titled "X-ray Signatures of the Hot Circumgalactic Medium in IllustrisTNG", supported through the KAIST URP Follow-up Research Program (URP 우수과제 후속지원).
(2026/04/28) First Light for the Undergraduate Radio Lab
The undergraduate radio laboratory experiment achieved its first detection of Galactic neutral hydrogen emission at 21 cm.
Jiwon is leading the development and commissioning of the project. The goal is to establish a laboratory course for Prof. Kim’s radio astronomy class, spanning basic radio-frequency component measurements to interferometry experiments using 1.5 m dishes.

Five members of the group attended the 2026 Spring Korean Physical Society Meeting in Daejeon and delivered oral presentations on their recent research.

Kihong: "Quantifying the Reliability of Planck-Only Cluster Geometry Analyses in CHEX-MATE"
MinSu received an Outstanding Presentation Award (우수발표상). Congratulations!
(2026/04/17) Department of Physics Machine Shop and Facilities Tour
Lab members toured the KAIST Department of Physics machine shop and fabrication facilities, which are equipped with a variety of machining tools and 3D printers, with the help of 박인석 선생님 from the administrative team.
Several group members will receive training to support in-house fabrication and instrumentation work for research projects.

Jiwon presented a poster titled "Investigation of the Distant Halo Star Candidates in the Milky Way from Gaia DR3 Cepheids" (a project with Prof. Ho Seong Hwang at SNU).
Minjae presented a poster titled "SPHEREx Near-Infrared Spectrophotometric View of Luminous Quasars at z > 5 Rest-Frame Optical Properties and Physical Implications" (a project with Dr. Bomee Lee at KASI).

With cherry blossoms in full bloom, we celebrated KAIST Strawberry Party (딸기파티) this week. It was a wonderful spring day on campus, and we enjoyed the gathering together with members of the KASI radio group.

(2026/02/27) KASI-KAIST SKA-VLBI Meeting
Junhan, Eunchan, and Jiwon visited KASI for the inaugural KASI-KAIST SKA-VLBI Meeting, joining Bong Won Sohn’s group, including his students Min-Ji and Sieun.
This meeting aims to foster collaboration and synergy towards the SKA-VLBI initiative with the KAIST–ATNF G-HUB Program.

(2026/01/27) BURSTT Project at KVN Pyeongchang
Junhan, Yeomoon, and Kihong visited KVN Pyeongchang Station to support the array installation for the Bustling Universe Radio Survey Telescope (BURSTT) project .
During the visit, we conducted RFI measurement tests. These efforts were aimed at evaluating the feasibility of a future low-frequency antenna array, as part of the KAIST–ATNF G-HUB Program.
